What is De Krat?
De Krat is a service that provides you with an abundant crate full of sustainable, high quality food every week! Beautiful seasonal and loacal products, grown with respect for people, animals and the environment. With recipes for weekdays or elaborate cooking on the weekends. Choose the crate that suits you best!
What types of crate do you have?

This crate contains everything you need for three easy and healthy meals during the week, out of which 2 are with meat of fish and one is vegetarian. All the products you need for the recipes are included in the crate, so you don’t have to go to the store for extra ingredients.

De Gemakskrat Vega
This is pretty much the same crate as de Gemakskrat, but vegetarian. Although the ingredients are in part similar to those of de Gemakskrat, we don't simply replace meat and fish for vegetarian products but prepare specialized vegetarian recipes containing delicious fresh, seasonal and local products.

Weekendkrat Extra
This crate is perfect for those who love to cook more elaborate meals on weekends and/or who prefer to figure out themselves what they will make with the content of the crate.The Weekend Crate Extra contains 7 or 8 different vegetables, two kinds of meat and/or fish and two special extra products such as paté, cheese, a special jam, a jar of pesto or a nice bottle of yoghurt. You get 8-9 inspiring recipes every week, as well as a nice, fresh, artisanal bread.

Are all products organic?
Not all our products have the “Eko” label, which means we can’t call the crate organic. However, we make sure that all vegetables are unsprayed, mainly grown in open fields or from sustainable greenhouses without lighting and heating. All products are local, to minimize polluting transport. Our meat comes from local farmers who take good care of their stock. The animals can roam freely in the pasture and they are fed with sustainable healthy food (no antibiotics). The fish always has the MSC label and is caught according to the “viswijzer”, a guide for sustainable fishing practices. The bread is always organic and homemade.
Where do the products in the crate come from?

What’s the differences between De Krate and all the other meal crates or food boxes?

De Krat was the first food box concept in the Netherlands, and differs from other similar companies in several ways:

  • Quality: We ensure that all our products, especially meat and fish, are of excellent quality. It is especially the high quality of our meat and fish that distinguishes us from our competitors.
  • Service: Flexible, very friendly, thoughtful and solution-orientated customer service at is a priority at De Krat. Our subscription options are the most flexible of all the food boxes. You can always cancel a delivery, move it to a different week or end your subscription. As long as you are happy, we are happy. 
  • Price: De Krat is one of the cheapest food boxes in the Netherlands. Cheaper than the competitors, because the money you pay goes directly into the products in the crate and not into marketing of profit. 
  • Transparency and honesty: We're very transparent about the origin of our products. We have nothing to hide and are happy to share our knowledge. We pay our suppliers a fair price for their product, and we buy as much as possible directly from the farmer, producer, or smaller organic wholesale providers.
Does De Krat contain fruit?

We sometimes offer fruit, but of course only when in season and when it suits the recipes. Since we provide a box orientated on evening meals, we mostly provide ingredients for these meals and that means little fruit.

Do I still need to get groceries?

The Gemakskrat and Gemakskrat Vega contain all the ingredients you need for 3 meals. Of course like everywhere else cooking is about taste. This means that we use spices, salt and pepper, oil, butter, garlic, etc. These products form the basis of your kitchen cabinet and are therefore not included. In the mail contaning the recipes you receive prior to your delivery we let u know what kind of herbs and spices you need.

Flexibel lidmaatschap

How does the flexible subscription of De Krat work?
As the word implies, subscribing to De Krat is flexible. You can choose the frequency of your delivery, for how many people and what kind of crate you want. Do you want the crate every week or occasionally? You can customize this yourself on your personal page 'Mijn Krat', in the upper right side of the web site. Here you can customize your subscription, temporarily stop or have the crate delivered to a alternative address. If you cancel your subscription, we'll send you one or two emails, but we won’t bother you after that.
How can I log into the “Mijn Krat” page?
If you're new to De Krat, go to order and create an account. If you are registered already, you can log in by clicking the “inloggen” button at the top right of the page.
Can I order de Krat every 2 weeks in stead of weekly?

Yes, this is possible. You can choose for a weekly, biweekly or monthly (every 4 weeks) delivery when you sign up for your subscription. You can also change your subscription later in your own "Mijn Krat" page.

I want to modify my crate subscription, is that possible?

Certainly! You can change your subscription on your personal 'Mijn Krat' page. Log in go to "current subscription" to change your subscription. Since we do need some time to order our products, it’s possible that your new subscription starts one week later. When you change your subscription, we will clearly indicate when your new subscription will start.'

Is there a deadline on changing my order?

You can change your order up to a little less than a week before delivery.

  • If your crate is delivered on Monday night, you can change your order until noon the Wednesday before.
  • If your crate is delivered on Thursday, Friday or Saturday, you can change your order until noon the Monday before.
Can I pause my subscription?
Temporarily abroad, on holiday or just not in the mood for De Krat? No problem, you can freeze your subscription any time you want. If you don’t want to receive the crate anymore, you can cancel your order according to the same rules as when changing your order (see “Until when can I change my order?”). When you log in on to 'Mijn Krat' and go to "current subscription" you can pause your subscription right away. At the same place you can simply reactivate your subscription.
Can I cancel my crate because of the holidays etc.?
Absolutely! You can cancel your crate on your 'Mijn Krat' page and go to “change or skip a week”. There you can cancel the crate for a specific week by clicking “skip”. If you change your mind and want to receive the crate for that week anyway, click “receive anyway”. You will find specific information about until when you can cancel your crate under every week.
How can I unsubscribe?
You can end your subscription by going to 'Mijn Krat and clicking the cancel button under “current subscription”. Since we work with flexible subscriptions, you can end your subscription right away. If you feel like having the crate again, you can reactivate your subscription on your personal Krat page.
Can I come back on my subscription?

In The Netherlands we are legaly obliged to give you an 14 days cooling off period, in which you can decide whether to go ahead or stop your subscription. May you decide to stop than you still have to pay for the ordered (and delivered) crates. 


Can the crate be delivered where I live?

From March 1st, we will deliver De Krat nationwide on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with the exception of the Wadden islands and Zeelandic Flanders.

The Gemakskrat that is delivered on Mondays is currently only delivered in Amsterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, Zeist, Haarlem, Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, and Amstelveen.

Wordt mijn Krat gekoeld vervoerd?
Jazeker, gelijk na het vullen van de Krat worden ze per stuk in een gekoelde box verpakt. Hier krijg jij als klant niks van mee, want vlak voor het overhandigen haalt de bezorger je Kratje uit de box.
When will my crate be delivered?

The Crate is delivered on Mondays (17:00-21:00) nationwide. The Gemaks crate in the weekend s delivered nationwide on Thursday (17:00 to 21:30), Friday (17:00 to 21:30) and Saturday (09:00 to 13:00). In the Randstad (a conurbation in the Netherlands consisting of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, and the surrounding areas) the Gemaks Crate can be delivered on Thursday (17:00 to 21:30), Friday morning (09:00 to 13:00), Friday afternoon (13:00 to 17:00), Friday evening (17:00 to 9:30 p.m.), and Saturday morning (9:00 to 13:00).

Weekendkrat Extra
The Weekend Crate Extra is delivered nationwide on Thursday (17:00 to 21:30), Friday (17:00 to 21:30) and Saturday (09:00 to 13:00). In the Randstad (a conurbation in the Netherlands consisting of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, and the surrounding areas) , the Weekend Crate Extra can be delivered on Thursday (17:00 to 21:30), Friday morning (09:00 to 13:00), Friday afternoon (13:00 to 17:00), Friday evening (17:00 to 9:30 p.m.), and Saturday morning (9:00 to 13:00).

Are there any extra charges for the delivery of my crate?
At the moment, we do charge a delivery fee for certain parts of the Netherlands. If you live in an area where we charge a fee, it will automatically be displayed when you order the crate.
I want to change my address, how do I do that?

You can change your address at your contact information on your own page online. Make sure you change your address at contact information and not on your crate schedule because than you only change your address for 1 specific delivery. 

Can I indicate what time I want to receive the crate?
When you order the crate, you can choose a time window for delivery, depending on your zip code. Within this window, it is unfortunately not possible to select a specific time, but you always get an email from us upfront to let you know what time the crate will be delivered, with a margin of a hour. This means you never have to stay home for more than an hour! If you’re not at home, we will try to deliver it to your neighbors. If your normal moment of delivery doesn’t work well for you, you can always change the day of delivery or delivery address for a single week, by clicking “skip or change one week”
Can the crate be delivered at a different address for just one week?
Log in with your personal details and then go to “skip or change one week”. You can then change the delivery address for a specific week. Note: the different address should be in the same municipality as the normal address, due to possible delivery changes in the delivery fee.
Can I change the delivery day/time of a single crate?

Absolutely! You can change the delivery day or time on your personal Krat page (“my crate”, in the upper right corner). Log in with your personal details and then click on “skip or change one week”. Here you can change the time of delivery for a single week.

Please note that you can only make changes with sufficiently advanced notice. The latest you can make changes will be specified when you try to make a change.

What happens with my crate when I’m unexpectedly not home at the time of delivery?
If you’re not home when the crate is delivered, the driver will try to deliver it to your neighbors. If this also doesn’t work, the driver will take the crate back and we will see if we can deliver it another time. Either way, the driver will leave a note indicating what he/she did with the crate.
Can I also pick up my crate?

Yes, this is possible. Right now we only have one pick-up location in Amsterdam, the Copernicusstraat 47 in Watergraafsmeer. 

  • The Gemakskrat can be picked up on Monday night between 17:00 and 19:00.
  • The Weekendkrat and the Weekendkrat Extra can be picked up on Friday between 9:00 and 17:00 and on Saturday from 09:00 to 13:00.

If you pick up the Crate by default, you will receive a 4 euro discount per crate. If you want to pick up your crate just for one week, you can indicate this under “skip or change one week”.

It's past half an hour after the specified delivery time, and my crate has not been delivered yet. What should I do?
If your crate is more than half an hour late, or if it has not been delivered at all and you did not find a note in your mailbox, you can call our delivery service: 079-3634179. They will be able to tell you when your crate will be delivered or what happened to it. If they can’t help you, please contact De Krat by calling 020-6930110 or sending an email to info@dekrat.nl
Kan ik mijn krat ook voor de deur laten zetten als ik niet thuis ben?

Ja dit is mogelijk. Graag horen wij dit van te voren zodat wij hier een notitie van kunnen maken voor de chauffeur. Mocht je een schuur, tuinhuisje oid hebben, dan kan de krat ook daar neer gezet worden door onze chauffeurs. Mail naar info@dekrat.nl en wij maken de notitie in orde.

How can I pay my crate?
You pay the Crate with IDEAL when you order it for the first time. If you choose for a flexible subscription after your first order, you will pay your future crates using recurring automatic payments. You then pay per crate. We automatically collect the cost of every crate on the day it’s delivered.
When do the automatic payments occur?
The payment is collected in recurring automatic payments. We collect after invoicing, which happens around the day of delivery. You will always receive the invoice by email.
How can I change my bank account number?
You can't change your bank account numer yourself. Send an e-mail to factuur@dekrat.nl with all the information and we will change it for you.
Ik heb spijt van mijn bestelling, kan ik er nog vanaf?

Wettelijk heb je 14 dagen bedenktijd bij het afsluiten van een online abonnement.Als je ons een mailtje stuurt storten we het bedrag dat je hebt betaald meteen terug. Alleen als we jouw eerste krat al besteld en ingepland hebben, dan dien je die ene krat nog wel af te nemen en te betalen, maar daarvoor kan je je geld nog terugkrijgen. Je kan ons dan het beste een mailtje sturen via info@dekrat.nl, dan maken we het voor je in orde.


Hoe kan ik mijn kado voucher inwisselen?
Je kan je kadobon inwisselen door naar https://www.dekrat.nl/nl/kadobon/ te gaan en hier je kado vouchernummer in te vullen. Hierna kan je zelf kiezen wanneer je de krat wilt ontvangen. Mocht je nog vragen hebben, mail dan naar info@dekrat.nl en we helpen je graag verder. 
What should I do with my empty crate?
Since we recycle the crates, you can give your empty crate back to the driver when the new crate is delivered.
When will the recipes be online?
The recipes of De Krat are posted online one week in advance. You can find them under this week in the crate. Here, you will find the contents of the crate for a specific week. On the right side of the page, you can see what will be in the Crate the following week. If you haven’t ordered a crate for that week but would still like to do so, you can still order it through the "Skip a week or change week" link on your own mijn krat page.

Do you take allergies and diets into account?
At this time, it is unfortunately not possible to take all allergies and diets into account. Please contact the customer service to discuss the possibilities.
Can I give the crate as a present?

Yes, you can! There are 2 ways to do this:

  • Under the different types of crates you can order, you can also choose for the gift-option. By choosing this option, you will receive a voucher that you can send or give to someone. The person who receives the gift voucher can order a crate with the code on the voucher, and can decide when he or she wants to have the crate delivered.
  • You can also order a single crate and fill in the address of the person you would like to give a crate to. Since you can choose the day and time of delivery, it will really be a surprise.
Hoe kan ik mijn kado voucher inwisselen?

Je kan je kado voucher inwisselen door naar https://www.dekrat.nl/nl/kadobon/ te gaan en je code in te vullen. Klik op inwisselen en kies wanneer en waar je de krat wilt ontvangen. Let op!  Je klikt eerst op inwisselen, vult je code in en daarna registreer of log je pas in. Mocht je nog vragen hebben over je kado voucher, stuur dan een mail naar info@dekrat.nl. 

Can I receive the recipes in English?
Yes, that’s possible. You can change the default language to English on your personal Krat page, so that you receive the recipes in English as well. You can also find the English recipes on our website.
How does the “Tell a friend” discount work?

If you are a customer of the Crate, you can also invite a friend through your personal mijn krat page. Through the website, you can send an email with a personal link. If your friend orders a crate, he or she will get a 10 euro discount, and so will you. The price will be adapted for both of you in your next invoice. You can use the link one time so make sure that you register and order your trial subscription at the same time. For questions, please contact info@dekrat.nl
